Robotics Workshop
Our students had an incredible time coding robots in their recent robotics workshop with Robot Man! They not only explored the world of coding and problem-solving but also strengthened their maths skills along the way.
Beyond the tech, our students also practiced cooperative learning—taking turns, sharing ideas, and celebrating each other’s successes. It was fantastic to see teamwork in action as they worked together to bring their robots to life!
Well done, everyone! We can’t wait to see where your creativity and collaboration take you next.

Ukulele Workshop – Strumming Up Success!
What a fantastic day of music, learning and teamwork at our Ukulele Workshop! Students dived into music thinking, reading sheet music, and sharpened their sense of rhythm as they practiced together.
Throughout the day, they worked as a team, supporting each other and refining their skills in preparation for an exciting performance at the City of Launceston Official Brisbane Street Mall as part of the Launceston Ukulele Jamboree !
We are so proud of their dedication.

Waverley Wonders Take on Filmmaking!
Our Waverley Wonders group has begun an exciting new project as part of the Launceston City Council’s Launnie Connecting Community initiative! With the guidance of facilitator Sarah, students are diving into the world of filmmaking—developing a script, interviewing each other, and exploring what it means to live and learn in Waverley.
Through this creative journey, they are celebrating all the great things about connecting within our community. We can't wait to see their final film and share their stories with you!
Bright Futures Awards
We are excited and proud to share our Waverley Early Years team; Mrs Allen, Mrs Ewart, Mrs Evans, Mrs Foley, Mr Millwood, Mrs Salter, Mrs Wager have been formally recognised at the awards ceremony for their leadership of birth to Kinder programs. Congratulations to all involved.

Waverley Wonders
On Friday 21st March the Waverley Wonders group worked with Action Crew to make a film about us and why Waverley is so good. We started off by deciding what role we were going to have in the crew. We had Kayden as the talent and Ben interviewing him. He was asked some questions like 'if you had a superpower what would it be?' We all had a chance of being interviewed, it was really fun. Evi and David from Action Crew were really helpful with teaching us the ways of their equipment. During our film we had a lot of funny moments that will be at the end of the film called bloopers. A big thanks to Evi and David and Miss.McCormack for helping us make a successful film.

Our Safeguarding Lead for Waverley Primary School
Mrs Anita Price is our Safeguarding Lead. Safeguarding Leads are appointed in every DECYP school and CFLC in Tasmania to help ensure children and young people are known, safe, well and learning.
As Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Price will enhance our efforts in promoting and nurturing a culture of safeguarding at our school. This will enable us to better support the wellbeing of all our students and reinforce the understanding that keeping children and young people safe is everyone's responsibility. By improving our safeguarding culture, we can create a safer and more supportive environment for all.
For further information on Safeguarding in Schools and CFLC's, please visit Keeping children safe through safeguarding - Department for Education, Children and Young People
Volunteer Requirements 2025
As we are well into the new school year, we want to remind our school community about the important requirements for volunteering at our school.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, it is mandatory for all volunteers to have their RWVP (Registration for Working with Vulnerable People) and to have completed the Your Obligations-Safeguarding training 15-minute video before engaging with children and young people in a volunteer capacity at our school. Certificates for the training video are valid for 12 months from the date of completion. These steps are essential in helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for our children.
To apply for a Working with Vulnerable people, please visit the Service Tasmania website.
To complete the Your Obligations-Safeguarding Training 15-minute video please visit the DECYP website.
Volunteers are a vital part of our school community, and we are excited to collaborate with you the year ahead!
